FAQ
Common questions, answered.
Everything teams usually ask before a demo. Don’t see yours? We’re one email away.
What is Acuity?
Acuity is Prio Health AI’s flagship product: an AI-assisted triage platform for emergency departments. Patients complete a guided self-assessment, a clinical engine evaluates it against established triage protocols, and the care team sees a live, prioritized view of the department with alerts and recommended actions.
Does Acuity replace triage nurses?
No — and it isn’t designed to. Acuity is decision support: it accelerates intake, surfaces risk earlier and keeps the queue visible, but final clinical judgment always rests with your team. Clinicians can confirm, adjust or override any recommendation.
What clinical protocols does Acuity use?
Acuity is built on the Manchester Triage System (MTS) and the Emergency Severity Index (ESI), supplemented by best-practice emergency care guidelines. The protocols are encoded as explicit, versioned, auditable logic.
How does the AI relate to the protocols?
The deterministic protocol engine is the foundation — it works on its own and every recommendation traces back to it. The AI layer adds continuous risk stratification and operational insight on top, always shown alongside the protocol reasoning, never instead of it.
How is patient data protected?
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is role-based, and every access and recommendation is logged. We practice data minimization and design to support HIPAA and GDPR compliance programs. Our team will gladly walk your security reviewers through the details.
Does Acuity integrate with our EHR?
Acuity is designed for standards-based interoperability, including HL7 FHIR interfaces. Integration scope is defined per deployment with your IT team during planning.
How do we get started?
Start with a demo — a 30-minute walkthrough tailored to your department. From there, most teams move to a scoped pilot. Request one via the demo page or email us at [email protected].
